Sapari video released

9 February 2010 by Kobi

Hello all you Orphans, we have launched a new video for the song ‘Sapari‘ this evening on AOL’s Noisecreep.

The video was made by Shahar Hemo and Matan Cohen, who I found after a desperate cry for help on Facebook. They contacted me and from the very first moment we met and started to talk about ideas for the video. I felt confident we found the right guys. They went all out and were totally devoted to make it a very special video. To give an example: they built the whole set for the scene with the actor from scratch! Then they found this amazing place that reminded us of the cover of our ‘Sahara’ album to shoot the scenes with the band. The outcome exceeds anything I could have imagined, as they really managed to express the spiritual aspect of the song.

With the video clip, we are trying to reflect this inner search of a man and his spirit. The actor, Matti Atlas, was filmed in a room, sitting in a box, writing sacred stuff. This is the exact way they used to sit and write in the old days in Yemen. He is writing… searching. At some point, he starts to freak out; to write on the walls, on his body, getting even possessed in a way. He is alone, confused, searching for answers and meaning, just as we all are.

Sapari‘, which means ‘tell me’ in Hebrew, is a 17th-century poem written by Sa’adia ben Amram, a jewish poet who lived in Yemen. The song is a duet between the poet and his soul. The poet seeks for his soul and asks her where ’she’ is. The soul, described as a dove in the song, answers that she is at the high chamber, heavens, preparing herself to wear the shape of a human body. In a way, this song reflects the inner search that every human is going through. We are getting to know our self more and more each and every day, and our journey here is far from being easy.

Now that our new album ‘The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR‘ is out in North America since today, I want to remind the fans overthere that we have 4 shows in store for them, playing as support for Suidakra:
March 08 – B.B. King Blues Club & Grill – New York, NY
March 10 – Les Foufounes Electriques – Montreal, QC
March 13 – Wreck Room – Toronto, ON
March 14 – Bottom Lounge – Chicago, IL

We are very much looking forward to our first north american showdates and hope to meet all of you in one of the concerts! Now I will stop talking so you can watch our new video (-:

Facebook campaign “All is one”

22 January 2010 by Nathalie

We have started a group on Facebook to help spread the message of unification of Orphaned Land. Here is the text explaining about the page:

Do you believe it is possible to live together in peace, no matter what’s your religion or beliefs, no matter what’s your country or culture?

Do you want to support that message and get it heard by others? Then join us!

This Facebook group is set up by the fanpage of the Israeli band Orphaned Land. The band has been standing for this message through their music for more than 18 years. As their singer Kobi Farhi puts it: “All monotheistic religions believe in the same God, so how is it possible we are still killing each other? We as a band, are about the unification of everything – All Is One.”

To get our voices heard, we propose to team up and get the band a massive chart rating on their song “Sapari” once it will be out on ITunes- January 25th. Let’s all show them how it’s done: fans from all countries, all beliefs unite! ALL IS ONE!

Please help us spread the group, invite all of your Facebook contacts, put the link on your MySpace, in forums etc.

Show the force of the Orphaned Land fans, united we can do this!

If you want to get more involved, you can contact me here

Disciples of the Sacred Oath II

5 January 2010 by Kobi

With less than three weeks to go till the release of “The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR” (for the Israeli and European fans), we have posted a brand new track online.

Disciples Of The Sacred Oath II is a heavy song, both musically and lyrically and it is one of the most important tracks of the album by its meaning. Indeed, it calls for a laying down of arms, to realize that the warriors are first of all brothers: “Lay down your swords, blood and flesh you share” … “Shall we see the end of war, blood brothers?”. It is definitively the most outspoken text we ever wrote on this subject.

Furthermore, as this song contains Arabic lyrics, we would like to dedicate it to our Arab fans and we hope that one day we will sing it together in a show in their home countries!

Go to our MySpace page to listen to the song.

Underneath you find the Arabic part of the text plus its translation.

Vayehi OR!

21 December 2009 by Kobi

Hello there to all the warriors of light!

For those of you who don’t know, each year the longest night of the year happens at December 21st and from this day on the nights get shorter while the days get longer. On a spiritual level this symbolizes the resurrection of the light and the death of darkness (the opposite happens at every June 21st).

Since our new album “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” is a concept album about the warrior of light, we decided to share with you another short track titled – “Vayehi Or” (in Hebrew: let there be light) – please note that our album is 78.22min long and these are just small tastes of the whole journey – “The crimson touch of hope still fights, through the veil truth doth shine – let there be light!”.

To listen to this track head over to our MySpace page.
